An article published in P3 on 1st October 2012, highlighted the issue of stress and its increasing impact on our health. In particular the article discussed the importance of sleep for maintaining our mental wellbeing.
The Great British Sleep Survey found that 30% of the population suffers from insomnia. Recent NHS data found that in the 12 months up to May this year, there had been over 6300 hospital admissions in England due to stress. In addition autumn is a challenging time for many people with the seasonal transition and increased levels of darkness.
When considering ways to manage stress and sleep issues the P3 article points to acupuncture as one solution. It says:
Traditional acupuncture is known to be enormously beneficial for helping to correct sleep problems. It originated in China over 2000 years ago and is used by many people in the UK as a recognised option within standard healthcare.
