Introduction to Acupuncture

Why Acupuncture Should be part of your Self-care Routine

An article appearing in Chalkboard, the American guide to living well, sums up quite well, why many people choose to make acupuncture part of their monthly self-care routine.  We live in a very pressurising world, where the daily demands of life can leave us feeling permanently stressed, or locked in “fight and flight”.

Each week I see clients who are struggling with the long-term effects of chronic stress, and as this article identifies, many illnesses are caused or worsened by stress.  However numerous studies now  demonstrate the effectiveness of acupuncture for relieving stress.  In the article Dr Hyman discusses how acupuncture improves sleep, promotes wellbeing and allows emotional stability, which all contribute to stress reduction.  He also describes something I see daily in my own clinic:

Ninety-nine percent of my patients zone out for 20-30 minutes every time they get acupuncture.  They say they go into a deep sort of lucid dreaming state.  After acupuncture, they slowly return from this relaxed state and feel balanced, grounded and fully recharged, as if they just returned from a week vacation.

If you would like to try incorporating acupuncture into your own monthly self-care routine contact me to discuss having treatment.
