Acupuncture to Manage Pain, Avoid Injury & Train Smarter

Acupuncture has many benefits for managing pain and promoting the bodies own healing responses, which is one of the reasons it is so popular with athletes.  One of my clients from the Longridge area of Preston, Lancashire, has recently been using acupuncture to treat a sports injury, whilst training for some sporting events.  Here was his feedback, also available to read on my Facebook page.

I have been going to see Charlotte for a couple of months for pain in my left knee following a sports injury. Charlotte has had really good insight into the reasons and specific target of the pain. The treatment resulted in a significant improvement very quickly and has continued to improve the function of my knee, to the point where I am able to run at least 13K. This would have been impossible a few weeks ago.  Charlotte is also very easy to speak to and her clinic is nice and calming. I would highly recommend!

American lifestyle website GQ also featured an interesting article recently, about the benefits of acupuncture treatment.  The article highlights research in the Journal of Pain which found that acupuncture can treat chronic pain, headaches and osteoarthritis.  In the article, New York acupuncturists WTHN also highlighted other benefits for athletes:

It’s a natural partner for faster recovery, and many athletes use acupuncture to maintain top-performance shape…. It can help improve flexibility, range of motion and strength, as well as release sore or tight muscles and reduce inflammation.
